Sweetie Feeties ! ! !

It's summertime and everyone's hot and a little bit sweaty! And it seems our shoes get the worst of it . . . ew! So here's a super quick solution! These little shoe inserts are filled with kitty litter which helps absorb moisture and odors. Stick them in your shoes as soon as you remove them to help minimize some of the ickiness!

Here's what you need:
  A bag of kitty litter
A couple of scraps of fabric:
      men's size: 2 pieces of fabric 7" X 12"
      women's and youth: 2 pieces of fabric 6-1/2" X 10"
      little tykes: 2 pieces of fabric 5-1/2" X 7"

Fold the squares in half lengthwise, right sides together and stitch the long raw edges together with a 1/4" seam allowance. Turn right side out and press. (note: it doesn't really matter where the seam allowance ends up. I shifted the seams around so I could get the orange flower centered.) The picture below shows one sewn and not turned and the other turned and pressed - both ends are still open.

Next stitch one end on each closed with a 1/4" seam and zigzag the raw edge (or serge). I don't turn the ends in for a finished seam because I like the look of the raw edges with a zigzag on these!

Fill each pack a little over half way full with kitty litter. It's better to have these too long with less filling than too short and over filled - you can always leave some of the pack hanging out of your shoe if it's too long! Stitch the remaining ends closed and zigzag (or serge).

Did I say "quick"? They're done - seriously - maybe 10  minutes!! Good thing because everyone in the family will need several!

I think it takes longer to decide which fabric to use, than to actually make them up! Like something really cute for the kids:

Or maybe his and hers coordinating Sweetie Feeties for your golf shoes!
